A trip on the Severn Valley Railway is the perfect way to celebrate Mothers’ Day on Sunday 19th March, travelling in steam-hauled style on one of Britain’s premier heritage lines.
The railway is running services between Kidderminster and Highley during March, including on Mothers’ Day, with tickets priced at a fraction of the standard fare. There’s lots to see and do along the scenic line, with options to hop on and off at Bewdley and Arley stations, and the first departure from Kidderminster leaving at 10am.
Throughout the weekend of 18th and 19th March, there’s a Spring Gift Fayre at The Engine House at Highley. Dozens of artisan companies will be selling crafts, gifts, and food and drink produce, and visitors can browse the stalls alongside a stunning collection of full-size locomotives and carriages on static display.
For an extra-special Mothers’ Day treat, just a few first-class afternoon tea upgrades are still available to pre-book, departing at 12 noon and 2pm on board a luxuriously appointed 1936-built dining carriage. An extensive range of sandwiches and sweet and savoury treats will be served, along with unlimited tea and coffee, as guests relax with views of the beautiful Worcestershire and Shropshire countryside.
“Visiting the SVR is the perfect Mothers’ Day treat,” said Michael Dunn, the SVR’s head of commercial and visitor experience. “What better way to show your mum how special she is than a trip back to the golden age of heritage rail? What’s more, if you pre-book online, everyone travelling in your party will receive a free return visit to us, valid for the next 12 months!”
