Colemere Vineyard’s Lapwing wine has just won a Bronze award in The International Wine Challenge. Add to that the award winning Henstone Distillery which is Distillery of the Year in The Gin Guide and you will be pleasantly surprised at the tastes and flavours of North Shropshire. Markets, trains, beer and fish and chips! Oswestry has been a market town for over 800 years and it is still thriving. Pay a visit to the weekly street markets. On the last Friday of the month visit the artisans’ market for the finest local produce. Oswestry’s historic railways are quite unique – we don’t know of any other that has a brewery as its destination! This summer they are celebrating with beer festivals and even a fish and chip train. Don’t miss a trip to Stonehouse Brewery on Cambrian Heritage Railway or Welshpool and Llanfair Railway’s July Beer Fest. Climb on board for some foodie fun.
Spend a summer evening on a two & half hour horse drawn boat trip, with a grazing box and wine, beer or Prosecco from Llangollen Wharf to The Horseshoe Falls.
The Sweeney Hotel is summer ready, so pop down for an alfresco lunch in their beautiful gardens. Or call in at the Wynnstay Hotel in town. Oswestry’s oldest coaching inn is celebrating a whole new look. Sit and enjoy a drink by the side of their bowling green – a peaceful green spot in the centre of town.
Don’t miss the Old School House – their tucked away sunny courtyard is the perfect spot to take a little break from all that shopping!

Oswestry Food and Drink Festival 8th and 9th July
Oswestry’s food and drink festival in July is renowned as the friendliest around. It’s a two day family friendly, free, fun, foodie market with the town centre streets filled with the best local food producers. There are events in the park, street entertainment and market stalls. It’s dog friendly too!
