The Oswestry 10k brings together an active community of people taking part in sporting events for reasons ranging from fitness, competition, charity, health, fun or to simply finish.
The participants vary from nervous first-timers of all ages through to competitive runners. The Oswestry 10k will take place on Sunday 15th October 2023 and the event start/finish in Church St and loop around the town. The event HQ & start/finish are a short walk from several car parks in the town centre.
The queen of all running distances, the 10K has all the elements you need for a fun race. While it won’t wipe you out for the days that follow, a 10K race is still an excellent challenge for new runners and experienced 10K specialists alike. And if you fall into the latter category, you’ll know that the speed and endurance required to run one fast will get your legs – and lungs – working pretty hard by the end.
Hitting your 10K goal can be hugely rewarding. Whether you’re taking on the distance for the first time and just want to get round, or have a specific, speedy finish time in mind, you’ll need around eight weeks to train for a 10K to help you perform at your best. Thankfully, though, training for a 10K won’t take over your life and is less time-consuming than the build-up to a half marathon or marathon. In fact, you can train for a 10K on just two or three runs a week, so it’s attainable for even the busiest of people.
