Wine Tasting For Everyone

We provide a range of wine tasting experiences from very informal events designed for complete novices to advanced professional qualifications for the hospitality industry and wine enthusiasts.

We do not sell wine, so there is no sales pressure, instead we source our wines from a variety of suppliers both local and national to provide a varied and interesting line up, always with the objective of giving guests great wine experiences.

Most of our events are hosted at the Lion & Pheasant Hotel in Shrewsbury but we use other venues from time to time and we are more than happy to travel to your location to provide a totally customised private wine-tasting experience.

Our informal events include:

  • An introduction to wine-tasting – aimed at absolute beginners
  • Cheese & Wine workshop – a match made in heaven, one of our most popular formats
  • Charcuterie & Wine Workshop – like cheese and wine, but with charcuterie instead
  • Passion for Prosecco – if you like bubbles, this is for you, totally unpretentious but you’ll be surprised what you will learn
  • Champagne, fizz and fish & chips – one of the best kept secrets an amazing food and wine match
  • Champagne, lunch and 12 wines – a truly decadent way to spend a Saturday
  • A World of Wine – a six week course highlighting the wines of France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, south Africa and the USA – travel the world “virtually” and make a huge step on your wine discovery.
  • Sherry & Tapas – if you think Sherry is just what your grandma keeps in the cupboard this event will change your perception.
  • Port & Cheese – our annual pre-Christmas event that always sells out/
  • Premium Gin Tasting – 6 gins and the incredible story of this most British of drinks

As well as ticketed events, we also provide a bespoke wine-tasting event service.  Whether you’d like to celebrate with colleagues or give your party something different, we can help.  All budgets and formats catered for.

Professional Events

We are an “Approved Programme Provider” for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and run courses at WSET Level 1, WSET Level 2 and WSET Level 3.  This is done both on an open ticketed event format and privately for hospitality business looking to increase staff knowledge of wine.

We are also one of a small number of UK approved providers of Wine Scholar Guild courses.  These are focused on single countries and are a truly incredible way to learn about the wines of France, Italy or Spain.  The “Essential” programmes require no previous knowledge but the “Scholarship” programmes are aimed at students who who already have an extensive knowledge (Essentials or WSET Level 2 minimum).

"🏰✨ Dive into the heart of Shrewsbury's Castle Quarter – the epicenter of history and grandeur! 🏰 Home to four of the town's largest historic treasures – Shrewsbury Castle, Library, Prison, and Train Station.

Did you know Shrewsbury Castle's foundations were laid in 1083 by the 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery?
Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
