The Official Tourism Website for Shropshire

A year ago, we welcomed our first guests to Acton Scott Escapes. The family had booked a 7-night stay, and we were both excited and anxious at the same time. There was no need to worry as they loved staying in the Safari Tent so much that they extended their stay. They gave us our first (of many) 5-star reviews and since then we’ve been host to so many special celebrations; birthdays, anniversaries, and family gatherings all in the relaxing atmosphere of an ancient woodland.

Before we could accept any bookings we first had to set up the site, which is easier said than done, especially in winter! We tackled the weather and the mud to put up the Safari Tent, install two Shepherd’s Huts and build the on-site shop.

We are very proud to support local small businesses, with a large amount of the products in our shop coming from with a 20-mile radius, including ready meals for those lazy days, meat for the BBQ and organic milk from the cows who graze the surrounding fields.

One of the best parts of the job is meeting the guests who have chosen to holiday here. Not only do we get to meet a diverse range of people, but we also get to share our love for nature and our little village. It truly is an escape for all: each encampment has a barbecue and a bookable private hot tub, from which you can watch the stars in peace, except for the occasional crackle of the wood-fired stove. There is also electricity and hot water, so you don’t have to live completely off-grid!

We are excited to see what the future brings and to meet all our lovely guests. Keep an eye on our social pages for availability and site developments. We are also now accepting bookings for our holiday house, Hatton Grove, which sleeps 11 and is perfect for larger family gatherings.

As a special birthday gift to you, we are offering 15% off all direct website bookings from September to December 2024, so you can come and enjoy your own celebrations in the peaceful surroundings of Acton Scott. We look forward to meeting you.

"🏰✨ Dive into the heart of Shrewsbury's Castle Quarter – the epicenter of history and grandeur! 🏰 Home to four of the town's largest historic treasures – Shrewsbury Castle, Library, Prison, and Train Station.

Did you know Shrewsbury Castle's foundations were laid in 1083 by the 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery?
Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
