Local, well-loved countryside gem Combermere Abbey is announcing the return of its highly anticipated events for 2024, which includes its charming Bluebell Walks and guided tours around the landmark Abbey.
Nestled in the picturesque countryside on the Cheshire / Shropshire border, visitors can explore Combermere by either booking onto a tour of the historic house or a late spring trip to enjoy the bluebells in its ancient woodlands. Both of these events remain extremely popular and they are open to the general public.
Over the years, Combermere Abbey’s enchanting dog-friendly Bluebell Walks have become a beloved tradition, captivating the hearts of many visitors from across the county and country. Plus, even those from overseas who’ve researched their researching their family genealogy and found roots in Combermere.
You can even make an adventure of it, if travelling from further afield, guests can book overnight in a self-catering, dog-friendly cottage or one of two North Wing luxury B&B suites. The Bluebell Walk comes at no extra charge for holiday guests, but for those visiting just for the day, ticket prices are £7 for adults, £3.50 for children (under 16) and will be free for babies and dogs.
The walks will run across 3 selected Sundays this year on 21st April, 28th April and 12th May at 10am and 1pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance on the Combermere Abbey website, as only pre-bookings are accepted. Parking and an array of delightful refreshments will be available at the Old Piggery Café on the edge of the estate.
In partnership with Historic Houses, Combermere Abbey will also see the return this year of its special Invitation to View tours for history fanatics on Thursday 21st March, Thursday 4th April and Thursday 16th May. This includes a private showing of the abbey and an afternoon tea with its owner Sarah Callander Beckett, giving a chance to ask plenty of questions.
Group tours are easily accommodated and special interest tours are always welcome. Up to 20 persons can enjoy a private tour with refreshments – these are open from March to the end of October by special arrangement. Bookings should be made online via the Combermere Abbey website in advance.
