June 2024 events at Blists Hill Victorian Town

This June Blists Hill Victorian Town is hosting three special events to entertain the family (and their four-legged friends).

Blists Hill Dog Show

Saturday 8-Sunday 9 June

To start the month, Blists Hill Victorian Town will welcome back its annual dog show. Visitors who bring their four-legged friends will be able to compete in an agility course and a barking contest. All participants will receive a certificate and winners will get prizes.

Blists Hill Victorian Town is a dog-friendly attraction. There are water bowls around the town and lots of walks in the woods. Dogs can also go in the majority of the town’s historic exhibits.

Blists Hill Sports Weekend

Saturday 15-Sunday 16 June

On the first weekend of the UEFA Euro 2024, Blists Hill Victorian Town will host its annual sports weekend. Kids and adults will be able to take part in traditional sporting games including a sack race, an egg and spoon race and a tug-of-war. And, of course, a penalty shoot-out. All participants will receive a certificate and winners will get prizes.

Steampunk Weekend

Saturday 29-Sunday 30 June

For two days the 1900 streets of Blists Hill Victorian Town will be given a science fiction twist as Steampunk fans arrive to celebrate sci-fi and Victoriana.

A neo-Victorian scientific fantasy, Steampunk combines old with new by reimagining today’s technology powered by nineteenth century steam, combined with elaborate fashions inspired by Victorian and Edwardian costumes.

For this special weekend the Ministry of Steampunk has organised live performances and musical entertainment around the town. Visitors are invited to dress to impress and join in the fun in their own historical costume.

These events are all included in the Blists Hill Victorian Town entry ticket. For full details of events, tickets and annual pass prices, visit https://www.ironbridge.org.uk/

"🏰✨ Dive into the heart of Shrewsbury's Castle Quarter – the epicenter of history and grandeur! 🏰 Home to four of the town's largest historic treasures – Shrewsbury Castle, Library, Prison, and Train Station.

Did you know Shrewsbury Castle's foundations were laid in 1083 by the 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery?
Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
