Explore Malt House With Hot Tub Stunning Tudor Cottage
Where you can find us
A warm welcome to Malt House. A cosy, country, 3 bed Tudor cottage, some parts dating back to the 1600’s. Previously, a Granary, the cottage is nestled in the heart of the South Shropshire countryside, designated an Area of Natural Beauty, where you can go for walks with friends, ‘furry friends’, and family.
The cottage has been in the family since 1924 and retains many of its original features – but it also has a large 6-person hot tub to indulge in, and relax, after exploring the local area!
The space
Malt House has a home-from-home feel as soon as you arrive. Its construction is original timber frame under wattle and daub exterior. The stunning gardens are well maintained by a local landscaper and has several apple trees which are lovely to walk round and enjoy.
To the rear of the cottage is the privately located bubbling hot tub where 6 guests can relax in beautiful surroundings with a drink of something refreshing after a walk in the countryside.
Inside the cottage, you will find a well-equipped farmhouse kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, microwave and oven/hob.
The utility room has a washing machine and separate tumble dryer in case you get caught in a downpour or for those longer stays where you need the convenience from travelling light. There is also a chest freezer along with 2 small barbeques, a clothes rack and everything you need to be comfortable here.
There is an old hand pump which, in its prime, drew spring water from a well, along with the old range fire-heated washing drum – now unfortunately out of service, but still a great feature that is nostalgic of the history of this lovely cottage.
Walk into the dining room with original quarry tiles, a beamed ceiling and a large Inglenook fireplace, now with multi-fuel burning stove for logs and coal for cosy nights in with food, around a large table in the centre.
You will see original range fires in here and in the utility room, which are of course no longer in use (we do have central heating now).
A hallway from the dining room leads to the downstairs shower room / WC and a sitting room area with TV and Freesat / DVD, an electric fire and an upright piano for any talented musicians in the group.
The staircase (with handrail) from the dining room dates from the original specification and is bare wood, painted black.
Upstairs, we have three bedrooms. All are good-sized rooms, two with two single beds and we have a third bedroom with a double bed. All have ample storage space and include basins for sanitising your hands as often as you wish (if the bathroom is taken).
There is the main bathroom with a bath for those who like to relax and unwind.
We hope you enjoy our stunning and unique property – a fantastic place to indulge in the beautiful countryside, away from the hustle and bustle.
Guest access
We have a driveway that will fit two medium-sized cars beside each other, and one roadside.
Other things to note
There are two fabulous pub / restaurants close by.
The Swan is a 1 minute walk from the cottage and The Crown is in the next hamlet, a few minutes away.
There is a local shop in Aston Munslow selling local produce, and also a garage (which just sells diesel).
There are lots of great villages and old market towns to explore within a few miles. Ludlow is only 15 minutes by car and there are a multitude of local pubs and restaurants within a small radius of the cottage.
We welcome your well behaved pets downstairs at a cost of £20 per pet which should be paid with your initial booking. There are large enclosed gardens which are safe for children and pets alike.
We have a cot and high chair available on request at £20 for both (we have to deliver them to the property).
We advise that there is strictly no smoking or vaping inside the house. If you do wish to smoke outside, please discard any waste responsibly in the black bin by the entrance.

Shropshire’s Own
Shropshire’s Own was formed by Duncan and Sarah back in 2012. Born from a love of fresh, local, produce, we’d always enjoyed shopping in local farm shops but found we’d often leave frustrated because we couldn’t buy everything we wanted in one place. We’d then shop online with one of the supermarkets and have our […]
