Arriving in Craven Arms is a breeze thanks to its excellent connectivity via the Heart of Wales train line. Whether you’re travelling from nearby towns or further afield, the train journey offers scenic views of the Shropshire countryside, setting the tone for a memorable day ahead.

Exploring the Attractions

Journey through time with a visit to Stokesay Castle, a quintessential medieval manor house renowned for its remarkable architecture and picturesque setting. Explore the well-preserved interiors, stroll through the tranquil gardens, and imagine life in centuries past.

For a deeper understanding of the region’s natural and cultural heritage, venture to the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre. Discover interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and informative displays highlighting the area’s diverse wildlife, geology, and landscape. Embark on guided nature walks, learn about traditional crafts, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Shropshire Hills.

There are six Discovery Walks leaflets to explore some of the countryside immediately around the Discovery Centre. There is some incredible countryside waiting for you whether it’s an easy ramble through the meadows, or a full day through the hills and dales

The walks vary in length and difficulty so there is something for everyone. Please note that all the walks were re-routed in 2017. You can purchase them from the Discovery Centre for £1 each or a pack of all 6 for £5.

You can find four of the walks online – Riverside RambleWart Hill WanderHills & Dales HikeThree Woods Walk as well as a number of  cycle routes.
