Uncover the fascinating history of Shrewsbury Prison with our exciting February Half Term activities. Our detective-themed experiences offer something for everyone:

1. Take on our Self-Guided Tour and enjoy an added bonus: a FREE ‘Catch the Convict’ challenge! As you explore the prison grounds, work together as a family or friends to solve clues, puzzles and riddles to identify and ‘catch’ a notorious convict. Don’t forget! If you are successful, you will be rewarded with a Junior Detective certificate and a 10% discount on food and drink in our restaurant! Are you ready to crack the case?

2. Take your detective skills to the next level with our Super Detective package! Join our lead detective for an action-packed Super Detective Masterclass. In this 1-hour session, you will learn essential detective skills, such as how to analyse a crime scene, take finger prints, solve puzzles and crack codes. You will earn a Super Detective certificate and a unique souvenir to remember your adventure behind bars. Parents, don’t miss out on the fun! Join in as assistants, playing the ‘Dr Watson’ to your child’s ‘Sherlock Holmes’. This package also includes a Self-Guided Tour and the ‘Catch The Convict’ challenge.

3. For the ultimate detective experience, try our Senior Detective package. Test your skills in one of our immersive, puzzle-based escape rooms: The Cell or The Hole. Set inside a real prison cell, you will have to work together to solve clues and escape to freedom. This package combines history, mystery and hands-on fun for the whole family! It also includes a Self-Guided Tour, the ‘Catch The Convict’ challenge and the Super Detective Masterclass.

Set in 100 acres of Parkland The Follies is a range of dramatic and rugged natural sandstone hills that were developed to include gullies, caves, towers and bridges, becoming one of the most visited landscapes in Britain during the 19th Century. However, throughout the 20th Century this romantic landscape became forgotten, overgrown and ruinous, unvisited by all but the locals.

Now recognised as a Masterpiece of the School of Naturalistic Landscape and designated as a Grade I listed landscape by English Heritage, this magical and exhilarating landscape had a new lease of life with a multi-million pound restoration project enabling it to reopen to visitors in 1993. Overgrown but never fully forgotten, pathways were cleared, gullies reopened and handrails reinstalled to allow visitors to enjoy the spectacular views and surprises that The Follies reveals around every corner.

Friends of the Follies can also enjoy special annual pass upgrade offers available at the gate, ensuring that the magic doesn`t end after one visit!
